RORY GALLAGHER - USED TO BE
"Used to be" is one of Rory's powerful bluesrock-tunes, he used to open his
show with during the tours of '71/72 with his first line-up. After changing
the line-up in '73 the song disappeared from his set and never came back
again, as a lot of other early tunes. It also opens the great "Deuce"-album,
which was the quick follow-up of his solo-debut, and which, as I hope, is
going to be re-released on CD later this year...
Below you'll find the main riff, the verse, the bridge and the first solo.
Rory plays the main riff, while he barres the upper four strings with his
forefinger. This seems also to be the best way to get into the short and
often repeated lick after "the trouble you gave to me...".
